Weekend Trip to NHRL's Combat Robotics
This past weekend, I attended the NHRL's Combat Robotics event in Norwalk, Connecticut with the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Robotics Team. It was an amazing experience full of high-energy battles, clever robot designs, and passionate enthusiasts. We even got a chance to fight with the club's own battle bots.
My Experience
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric. The upstairs area was packed with people making last-minute enhancements to their bots and performing safety checks. It was fascinating to see the variety of designs and choices that teams had made. On competition day, the venue was filled with spectators, and the sounds of robots battling filled the air. Though our bots, Sprocket Man and The Box Office Standard, didn’t advance far, seeing the other fights and events was inspiring.

My Takeaways
Seeing the dedication and creativity of other teams was inspiring. It’s motivated me to dive deeper into combat robotics, and I’m even considering building a small bot of my own for the next competition!
Final Thoughts
This event was an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the world of combat robotics. I’m already looking forward to attending again and perhaps even competing with my own design in the near future!
